GLOVERS NEWS: Yeovil Town bounce back with 3-0 win

YEOVIL Town put the memories of Manchester United behind them in emphatic style on Tuesday (January 30, 2018) with a 3-0 victory over visiting Grimsby Town in the Sky Bet League Two.

Admittedly the visitors finished the game with just nine players, but Yeovil still had to put the ball in the net and they did just that.

The game started badly for Grimsby when they had Mitch Rose sent-off after just six minutes for serious foul play and it was not long before Yeovil seized the initiative with Lewis Wing breaking the deadlock on 14 minutes.

Grimsby – managed by former Glovers’ boss Russell Slade - had their second player sent-off on the hour mark when Karleigh Osborne was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.

Yeovil then took the game by the scruff of the neck and made sure of the three points with goals from Rhys Brown on 71 minutes and Jake Gray on 76 minutes.

It was Yeovil’s first League Two success of 2018 and a good recovery following the 4-0 defeat at Huish Park on Friday, January 26, 2018, to Premiership superstars Man Utd in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup.

But the attendance was just 2,330 – one of the lowest league games since Yeovil entered the Football League.
