GLOVERS NEWS: Scunthorpe United 1, Yeovil Town 1

YEOVIL Town goalkeeping coach Gareth Stewart was the hero of the hour for the Glovers when he was called into unexpected duty for an hour of the match and even saved a penalty from former Huish Park hero Paddy Madden.

Veteran Stewart was called into the fray on 36 minutes following a head injury to Artur Krysiak after he suffered a head injury and was taken to hospital due to concussion.GLOVERS NEWS: Scunthorpe United 1, Yeovil Town 1

It was not long before Stewart was called into action during a prolonged spell of time added-on at the end of the first period due to Krysiak’s injury.

Madden was brought down inside the box by Yeovil centre-half Byron Webster and there was no disputing the spot-kick which was given by the referee.

But thoughts of Madden once again scoring against his former team from the resulting penalty were wiped out when Stewart saved with his legs.

Yeovil went into the interval 1-0 up thanks to a 28th minute goal from Joel Grant. Gozie Ugwu saw his shot parried by Scunthorpe keeper Luke Daniels, but Grant was on hand to hit home the rebound.

But Scunthorpe levelled on 61 minutes through substitute Hakeeb Adelakun scored with a well-taken goal which gave Stewart no chance.

Scunthorpe had the better of the chances in the second period to have won the game, but the game petered out into a 1-1 stalemate.

Yeovil remain rooted at the foot of League One and need to start turning draws into wins – quickly – if they are to get out of trouble.

They are now six points adrift of safety.

But the Glovers still have 13 games left to play so there is still time but the 2014-15 campaign is beginning to enter the crunch period.
