MEMORY LANE: Old Huish Park favourite Dave Piper is back in town!

FORMER Yeovil Town footballer, Dave Piper, is back in the region once again after purchasing a Bridport-based supplies business.

AJ Supplies, owned and managed by local businessman Mike Runyard since 2001, was acquired this month by Dave Piper, Ollie Rastall and Mark Dowle who also own Surrey-based Source Supplies.

The catering and janitorial supplies specialists supply hundreds of businesses across the south west with anything from tin foil to toilet rolls.

Mr Runyard, whilst sad to be retiring from the business he has grown successfully, is delighted to have found new owners who will continue to run and develop AJ Supplies with the same passion for customer service.

“I’ve always done my best for our customers and going the extra mile is part of our make-up,” he said.

“Knowing how Dave and Ollie run Source Supplies, I’m excited for the future of AJ Supplies.

“I’ll be leaving with a heavy heart but knowing that there is a great team in place, the new owners will have all the support they need.”

Right-back Dave Piper was a regular at Huish Park from 1998-2001 making 152 appearances for the Green and White army After being released from Southampton FC after two years.

Ever since his Yeovil days he has also been in the commercial cleaning supplies trade and is enthusiastic about returning to the area.

“It’s great to be back in the area,” he said. “I’ve got very fond memories of my time at Yeovil FC and it’s been brilliant to speak with locals who also shared in some of the good times during my career at Yeovil.

“Ollie and I are really impressed with the team at AJ Supplies and we’ve hit the ground running. It’s a great business and if we can enhance it further then there is no reason why we can’t expect to see some steady growth.”
