SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Man released on bail over migrants found in lorry

A MAN has been released on police bail pending further enquiries following an incident yesterday (Tuesday, August 19, 2014) where migrants were found in the back of a lorry pulled over at Ilminster.

Police announced at the time that a German man had been arrested on suspicion of “facilitating the unlawful entry of people into the UK.”

They have now said this afternoon that a 50-year-old man has been released on bail pending further investigations.

The 15 people who were found in the back of the lorry close to the Southfields Roundabout at Ilminster remain in a rest centre.

The group of men, women and a 15-year-old boy are believed to be from the Eritrea and Kashmir area and were treated by paramedics yesterday suffering from dehydration.
