BEER AND CIDER FESTIVAL: Vicars and Tarts theme at the Brewers Arms

FINAL preparations are being made for the twice-yearly beer and cider festival at the Brewers Arms in South Petherton.BEER AND CIDER FESTIVAL: Vicars and Tarts theme at the Brewers Arms

The festival will open at the award-winning pub on Friday (August 22, 2014) at 12noon where people will be able to indulge in more than 20 real ales and ciders.

Each year the August festival has a theme and this year is no different with the Brewers taking on the theme of Vicars and Tarts.

There will be a happy hour at the festival on the opening day (Friday, August 22, 2014) from 4pm to 6pm where there will be 50p off all pints served at the “festival bar.”

There will be live music in the evening from 9.30pm with John Ramon.

The festival will be open all day from 9am on Saturday, August 23, 2014, for those wanting breakfast.

People will be able to take part in the Vicar v Tart Pillow Bash in the pub garden from 7pm to 11pm where there will be a prize for the winner.

There will be a fancy dress party night on the Saturday with live music from the ever-popular Ian Kenna fro 9.30pm.

There will be maggot racing from 1pm, a yard of ale competition at 3.30pm, a “tart” contest from 4pm, followed by a disco with Father Stanley from 9.30pm and a late evening barbecue.BEER AND CIDER FESTIVAL: Vicars and Tarts theme at the Brewers Arms

The final day of the festival – for those hard core festival-goers – on Monday, August 25, 2014, will see the Brewers open all day from 11.30am.

There will be a games afternoon from 2.30pm with pin the tassels on the tart and ring my bell, as well as fun and games for children.

There will be an afternoon barbecue from 4pm to 6pm, while those left standing will be able to drink the festival bar dry from 7pm with 50p off all pints remaining.

Customers are reminded that food will be available in the bar and restaurant as normal form 12noon to 2.15pm and from 6pm to 9pm.
