LEISURE: Black Dyke Band heads for Somerset

THE Black Dyke Band will be making its bi-annual trip to Bridgwater in Somerset on August 18 for a concert with a difference as it helps Bridgwater Operatic Society in the group’s building project appeal.

The band will perform from 2.30pm in the magnificent setting of the newly appointed and refurbished St Mary’s Church in Bridgwater under Director of Music, Professor Nicholas Childs, with again a sell-out audience expected.

This event has become a firm favourite with a wide ranging audience both locally and nationally.

A spokesman for BOS said: “It’s always a very popular event and with a couple of weeks to go 80% of the tickets have already been sold.

“However, this year, given our drive to improve facilities at the society’s headquarters and rehearsal space, the band’s appearance is even more welcome.”

Professor Childs added: ”We are always pleased to visit Bridgwater where we receive such a very special welcome particularly as on this occasion we help the society with such a worthwhile appeal to upgrade their headquarters.”

Tickets are priced £18 plus a £1 booking fee. Go to the box office at www.bridgwateros.co.uk or https://bookwhen.com/bos for more information.
