Yeovil Town 1, Doncaster Rovers 0: Duane’s a livewire
NEW Yeovil Town loan signing Duane Holmes put in a decent debut performance for the Glovers’ on Saturday (February 22, 2014) in their 1-0 success over Doncaster Rovers.
It was Holmes who was adjudged to have been felled inside the Doncaster penalty box which resulted in James Hayter putting away a second-half spot-kick which gave Yeovil three vital points in this Sky Bet Championship clash.
And Johnson said that Holmes did well in the muddy conditions with the 19-year-old youngster only having “little legs.”
“It took him a while to get into it, but he did well,” said Johnson.
Holmes arrived on a month’s loan stay from Championship rivals Huddersfield Town on Thursday and Johnson said he hoped the youngster would provide some “spark” for the team and the crowd.
After a quiet opening, Holmes grew in confidence and his attacking play in which he ran at opponents with the ball at his feet got the crowd purring.
Match-winner Hayter described Holmes as a “real talent.”
“Duane’s certainly a livewire,” said Hayter after the match.
