Football: Burnley v Yeovil Town: First-ever meeting

THE fixture of Burnley v Yeovil Town might not necessarily spring up from the page and hit you between the eyes as a “must see” game.

But it is, in a way, quite a historic occasion. This afternoon’s fixture in the Sky Bet Championship will be the first time ever that these two clubs have played each other.

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson is expecting a difficult afternoon and has said that Burnley are a little bit like his own team.Football: Burnley v Yeovil Town: First-ever meeting

Johnson, speaking to the BBC, said: “Sean Dyche (Burnley manager) has got them playing at a good standard.

“They work hard. They are a little bit in our image – in fact, not just a little bit. They do work hard, they play their 4-4-2, they’ve got wide players and people who can get the ball into the box – people who can get on the end of things.”

But Johnson said he was expecting his players to compete and hopefully get something some from the afternoon.

“It’s going to be a tough game but we’ve got to go there and these are the types of games where you’ve got to be in, stay in, and take the few chances that you might get,” he added.

“If you create a lot of chances then great – but it is one of those where if you play well you can win, but if you’re not on form then you definitely can lose.”

This afternoon’s match kicks-off at 3pm.

Meanwhile, Yeovil defender Dan Seaborne will be chalking up a personal milestone later today if selected - he will be starting his 100th Football  League match.
