GLOVERS NEWS: Yeovil Town throw away a two-goal lead – again!

YEOVIL Town suffered another night of frustration on a wet and windy Tuesday (September 12, 2017) at Huish Park when they let slip a two-goal lead.

Goals from Francois Zoko and Sam Surridge had put Yeovil in a commanding position, but Morecambe fought back and drew level and looked the more likely of the two teams to have snatched a winner come the end.

Zoko struck first for Yeovil when he netted from close range on 37 minutes and then Surridge doubled the Glovers’ lead on 65 minutes.

But Morecambe found themselves right back in it within seconds of Yeovil’s second goal of the night when Adam McGurk netted.

The visitors then had Yeovil on the back foot and piled on the pressure and the inevitable happened on 77 minutes when Kevin Ellison headed home an equaliser for Morecambe.

It was the second time this season that Yeovil had thrown away a two-goal lead – they lost 4-3 at Forest Green Rovers back on August 19, 2017, when they had been 2-0 and 3-1 up at stages during the match.

The other talking point from the Morecambe game was the crowd of 2,205 at Huish Park – Yeovil Town’s lowest ever as a Football League club.
