GLOVERS NEWS: Last gasp equaliser in Yeovil Town dramatic finale

YEOVIL Town snatched a late equaliser on Wednesday (March 15, 2017) to earn a 2-2 draw at Barnet in the Sky Bet League Two.

The Glovers had gone 1-0 up on 14 minutes when Ben Whitfield netted only for the hosts to hit back on the half-hour mark with Michael Nelson scoring.

Barnet took a 2-1 lead on 85 minutes through fortuitous circumstances when a Ryan Watson free-kick – taken around 45 yards from the target – saw the ball evade everyone and ended up in the back of the net.

But Yeovil kept going and got the equaliser on 90 minutes when defender Liam Shephard scored his first goal for the club when he started and finished the move to give the Glovers a share of the spoils.

The result left Yeovil in 17th spot in the League Two table with just nine games to play and they are now 12 points above the relegation zone.

Although not mathematically certain with 27 points still up for grabs – there would have to be a dramatic end to the season if Yeovil were to find themselves in a battle for Football League survival.

Yeovil will be pleased with a four-point haul from their last two games which have been away from home.

The Glovers return to Huish Park on Saturday (March 18, 2017) and will be looking to cement those four points with an extra three with a win over visiting Accrington Stanley who are above Yeovil purely on goal difference.
