GLOVERS NEWS: No half-time cup of Bovril – what a joke!

GLOVERS NEWS: No half-time cup of Bovril – what a joke!

THERE is nothing better than a steaming hot cup of Bovril to keep out the chill for spectators when attending sporting fixtures – unless you are a supporter at Yeovil Town FC matches.

An angry Yeovil Town fan vented his frustration on social media when he went to get his half-time cup of Bovril on Saturday (February 11, 2017) during the Glovers’ home Sky  Bet League Two clash with Leyton Orient at Huish Park, only to be told they did not have any in stock.

Mark Swatridge said: “Considering the weather in the week leading up to the match and the correct forecast for more cold weather on Saturday you’d have thought that the club would have brought in some extra stock.

“The club must know people drink more Bovril on cold days!”GLOVERS NEWS: No half-time cup of Bovril – what a joke!

Mark, who was sitting in Huish Park’s Screwfix Stand for the game, added: “I had to settle for hot chocolate – extremely poor really and apparently other parts of the ground ran out of Bovril as well so I read on Twitter.

“It did seem a tad petty for me to put it on Facebook, but I was just amazed they hadn’t stocked up.”

Mark wrote on Facebook, along with his picture of the cup of hot chocolate he had to make do with: “Half-time on the coldest day of the season and they’ve run out of Bovril! What a joke!”

A recent survey of supporters carried out by Yeovil Town FC, who are nicknamed the Glovers because of the town's strong links with the gloving industry many years ago, has resulted in a number of grumbles being made about various issues at the club including catering and the matchday tea bars inside the ground.

The club is coming up with an action plan in which to remedy some of the problems which could involve ensuring there are enough supplies of items such as Bovril on a matchday.

A club statement said: “Following the recent matchday experience survey, the club has drawn up plans to make a number of improvements.

“The club received thousands of comments which were distributed to the respective departments for consultation and planning.”
