GLOVERS NEWS: Funeral details for Gerry Gow

THE funeral arrangements for former Yeovil Town manager Gerry Gow – who died earlier this week after a brave battle with cancer – have been announced.

A church service will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Easton Methodist Church in Easton Square, Portland, Dorset (postcode DT5 1BX) followed by a service at Weymouth Crematorium at 3.15pm.

Mourners are then invited back to South Portland Working Men’s Conservative Club at Easton to celebrate Gerry’s life.

Gerry’s son, Chris, has said on social media that everyone is welcome to attend. Chris and family have been overwhelmed by the messages of sympathy they have had from friends and football supporters from across the land.

“I would like to reply to everybody that has written such lovely words about dad which have given all the family so much support – but it would take weeks and weeks to get round to everyone,” he said.

Chris announced on Monday (October 10, 2016) that his much-loved dad and best friend had died following a brave and dignified battle with lung cancer at the age of 64.

Scottish-born Gerry was player-manager at Yeovil Town from 1984 to 1987 and before that had enjoyed a successful Football League career where he gained legendary cult status most notably with Bristol City and Manchester City before spells at Rotherham United and Burnley.
