SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Aviation recruitment firm looks to help GKN workers

ONE of Europe’s leading providers of aviation recruitment services is offering workers – who may find themselves being made redundant at Yeovil-based GKN – expert advice during these troublesome times.

JMC Recruitment’s team of consultants are experts in the aviation and aerospace sector. From their South West headquarters, based in Exeter, they are currently recruiting for in excess of 300 skilled aerospace roles in the South West, the UK and further afield.

These positions would be perfectly suited to the skilled workers at GKN who might find themselves in the unfortunate position of having to find alternative employment. JMC have said that they will be able to guide and assist workers through this period of uncertainty.

Warren Crook, founder and managing director, said: “We have a strong set of core values that we apply to everything that we do. We are confident that we will be able to provide the workers at GKN with a variety of options if they find themselves in need of alternative employment.”

The JMC Recruitment team will be meeting with GKN staff who may wish to start looking for new employment given that current degree of uncertainty at the company. The future does not look bright at Yeovil firm, GKN, after bosses told 230 staff to go home last Friday (October 7, 2016).

The aviation recruitment specialists will be at Yeovil College later today (Friday, October 14, 2016) from 6pm to 7.30pm to meet with people.

JMC Recruitment was founded in 2008 and has since grown to become one of the largest aviation and aerospace recruitment specialists in Europe. The firm provides skilled workers to a host of airlines, MROs and manufacturing organisations in the UK, Europe and across the globe.

Yeovil MP Marcus Fysh will also be meeting with employees of GKN later today on how he might help them through the period of consultation on the potential closure of their Yeovil site because of Leonardo’s – previously known as AgustaWestland – decision last week to take work on the Wildcat helicopter back in-house.

“It is sad for GKN and everyone connected to it that this commercial decision has been made and I am working hard to make sure everyone will be looked after,” said Mr Fysh.

“I have arranged for a leading regional recruitment agency who have a large range of good current opportunities in the industry to attend the meeting.”

Anyone wishing to attend the meeting can do by phoning 01935-314321 or by emailing Mr Fysh’s secretary jane.wilkes@parliament.uk .
