GLOVERS NEWS: Another defeat for Yeovil Town

YEOVIL Town’s disappointing string of results continued on Saturday (September 10, 2016) when they fell to a stoppage-time defeat against Hartlepool United.

Matt Butcher had given the Glovers the lead on 56 minutes, but Hartlepool struck back to take all three points with a brace from Nathan Thomas.

He levelled the scores on 67 minutes and then grabbed the late winner deep into time added on.

The result meant Yeovil remained in the bottom two of the League Two table and they have now not won a league game since the opening fixture of the 2016-17 campaign.

The attendance of 2,749 at Huish Park was also the lowest the Glovers had had since joining the Football League.

The last time Yeovil had a lower gate for a league game was back on September 21, 2002, when 2,126 watched the Glovers beat Halifax Town 3-0 in the Conference – although that game was played at Dorchester Town with Huish Park out of action due to having a new pitch installed.

The lowest league game attendance at Huish Park before last Saturday’s was the 1,941 crowd set on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, when Yeovil were held to a 0-0 draw by Southport in the Conference.
