RESULT: Bristol City 2, Yeovil Town 1

YEOVIL Town have slipped to the bottom of the Sky Bet League One table following a 2-1 Boxing Day (Friday, December 26, 2014) defeat at leaders Bristol City.

The Glovers now face a massive game back at Huish Park when they play host to fellow strugglers Leyton Orient on Monday, December 29, 2014, with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Victory for Yeovil would see them leapfrog above Orient and ensure that they did not finish 2014 propping up the table.RESULT: Bristol City 2, Yeovil Town 1

A late goal today at Ashton Gate from Yeovil’s Ben Nugent set an exciting finale, but Bristol City deservedly held-on for the three points.

City could have taken a first-half lead but former Yeovil striker Kieran Agard saw a penalty saved from Glovers’ keeper Jed Steer.

But City finally took the lead on 31 minutes through Matt Smith and they then doubled their advantage on the hour-mark when Jay Emmanuel-Thomas successfully converted another spot-kick.

The 1,121 Yeovil fans in the 13,731-crowd were given something to cheer about when Nugent powered home a long-range effort, but it was not enough for the Glovers.

The Yeovil Press is delighted that former Glovers’ player, Dave Piper, now of AJ Supplies, sponsors Yeovil Town coverage on this website. For more details about AJ Supplies click on their logo-advert on the right-hand side of this website.
