RESULT: Yeovil Town 1, Portsmouth 3

YEOVIL Town crashed out the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy competition last night (Tuesday, September 2, 2014) with a 3-1 defeat at home to Portsmouth.

The first-half finished 0-0, but visiting Pompey took control of proceedings after the break and broke the deadlock on 55 minutes through Jed Wallace.

The same player made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute and then Pompey made sure of their progression through to the Second Round of the JPT when Craig Westcarr put them 3-0 up on 74 minutes.

Yeovil gained a late consolation through Nathan Ralph, but by then it was too little too late from the Glovers.

While there was embarrassment on the pitch for the Glovers, there was intrigue off of it with Yeovil boss Gary Johnson turning up at Huish Park just 15 minutes ahead of the 7.45pm kick-off and then playing a seemingly low-key part during the game with assistant manager Terry Skiverton leading the directions from the sideline.
