Yeovil Town 2, Charlton Athletic 2: Glovers boss rues missed opportunity

YEOVIL Town will be kicking themselves tonight (Saturday, December 7, 2013) after missing out on an opportunity to get out of the relegation zone in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Glovers had to fight back from 2-0 down at half-time to gain a point with two goals in the second period against visiting Charlton Athletic.

The result means Charlton remain one place – just outside the bottom three – and two points above Yeovil who stay third from bottom.

And Yeovil boss Gary Johnson, speaking to the BBC after the game, said: “Obviously deep down I’m pleased that the boys have come back form nowhere at 2-0 down to get a 2-2 draw. But I felt that was an opportunity missed for us because of our poor start.”

Johnson added: “You can’t have that poor start in the Championship because teams get a bit of momentum and it’s very hard sometimes to wrestle it back.

“We showed the commitment to do that, but we don’t want to be 2-0 down before we get started.”
