Football: Ipswich Town 2, Yeovil Town 1: Glovers disappointed at defeat

YEOVIL Town were left hugely disappointed last night (Tuesday, September 17) at suffering a 2-1 defeat at Ipswich Town in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Glovers were leading 1-0 at half-time due to a great Joel Grant goal, but Ipswich stormed back in the second period, scored twice and took the points.Football: IpswichTown 2, Yeovil Town 1: Glovers disappointed at defeat

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson, speaking to the BBC, said: “We are disappointed to have lost the game.

“We are away at Portman   Road and Ipswich are going to beat some teams at this level, but when we are 1-0 up we’ve just to be a lot better.

“We’ve got to be a lot more competitive.”

Although Johnson was pleased with the Glovers’ first-half performance, he was disappointed with the second 45 minutes which saw Ipswich use their experience to the fore.

“What you saw was their experienced strikers holding it up better than we were,” he said. “Their experienced full-backs were getting more crosses in – you know what I mean?”

The result saw Yeovil move back down into the bottom three of the Sky Bet Championship table.
