Football: Laudrup pleased with win at Yeovil Town

SWANSEA City manager Michael Laudrup said that last night's (Friday, July 19, 2013) pre-season friendly at Yeovil Town had been a good workout for his players.

The Premier League side raced to a 5-0 win over The Championship newcomers with goals from Michu, Nathan Dyer, Pablo Hernandez, Rory Donnelly and Alejandro Pozuelo.

But the former Denmark star, Laudrup, who led Swansea to League Cup success last season, said that the opening 45 minutes had been a close affair with the Welsh side only leading 1-0 come the interval.

He admitted that the second-half opened up in their favour with both teams making a lot of changes.

"It was a great win and a great performance," he said. "The first-half was equal, but we played some great football in the second-half."

A crowd of 2,236 watched the game and to Laudrup's credit he fielded a strong Swansea starting lin-up with the likes of Michu, Nathan Dyer, new £5-million Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool, midfielders Leon Britton and Pablo Hernandez, plus highly-rated defensive skipper Ashley Williams.

Yeovil boss Gary Johnson said, after the game, that he felt the Glovers' fans "appreciated the opposition"  and their quality and style of play.

And he added: "I thought Ashley Williams was immense."
