Football: A BIG three points for Yeovil Town

YEOVIL Town manager Gary Johnson will be a happy bunny this evening on the way home from his side's vital 2-1 success at Notts County in the npower League One.Football: A BIG three points for Yeovil Town

The Glovers are now back into the play-off zone of League One and Johnson, speaking to the BBC, said it was now up to them to see if they can hold onto that position.

''It is in our hands now,'' he said.

After a stuttering period of form and results Yeovil got back to winning ways just when it mattered with an Easter Monday success at Meadow Lane.

Yeovil broke the deadlock right on the stroke of half-time when Paddy Madden (pictured right) netted his 22nd of the season.

But Yeovil's lead was short-lived when defender Dan Burn fouled County's Alan Judge inside the box for a penalty. Judge then took the spot himself and successfully planted the ball past Yeovil keeper Marek Stech in the 49th minute.

Yeovil, however, were back in front moments later when Matt Dolan, who had been struggling with an injury, netted a super free-kick in the 52nd minute.

Yeovil had scored two goals in just seven minutes - how important will those goals and those seven minutes be come the end of the season?

The Glovers moved back up into the League One play-off zone after Tranmere Rovers lost 1-0 at relegation-threatened Portsmouth.

Yeovil's win ended a run of just one victory from their previous eight outings, although Johnson would prefer to say that his side have lost just twice in the league since Christmas.

Johnson is always a pint glass half-full, rather than a pint glass half-empty and that philosophy could prove very crucial now in these exciting closing weeks to the season.

Next up for Yeovil - a home game with Shrewsbury at Huish Park on Saturday (April 6). Kick-off 3pm.
