Skittles: Hammers hit a 92-hand

THERE were some big wins in Division One of the Yeovil Sports Skittles League this week where ODS went back to top spot with a 104-pin thrashing of Motley Crew.

They also gained a 17-pin success over Yellow Wagtail B who have now dropped to fifth place.

Hammers had the biggest win of the week – thanks to a fifth-hand of 92 – when they beat luckless Mixstars by 131.

There was a shock in store for Division Two leaders Croc’s Lot when they visited Maybees. The bottom but one team played their best of the season. Colin Erscott (59) and M. Down (57) were in superb form as they stunned Croc’s Lot by beating them by 33 pins.

Nightriders went to second spot after a two-pin away win over Combo. Bottom team RAFA were another side to spring a surprise with a 35-pin away win over promotion hopefuls Tripods.

Casuals suffered a setback in Division Three where relegation threatened Oak Originals brought off a fine 36-pin victory.

Third-placed Jets have withdrawn from the league and the points for the rest of the season will be awarded to opponents subject to approval at the next monthly meeting on Monday, March 4.

Division Four leaders Old Barn Club had a vital nine-pin win over second-placed RB Legion Sports and now lead by six points.

Wessex Plus hung on to third place after a hard fought ten-pin away win over Knights.

Highest score of the week also came in this division with Paul Dare, of Dads Army, hitting 65 enabling his team to top 400 and win away to Kinnells by 63.

Misfits still lead the way in Division Five with their 16^th win of the campaign. Flung Together hit 396 – thanks to Rob Cousins 62 and Nick Williams with 56, as they beat Jesters by 62 pins to stay in second place.
