Football: Yeovil Town unlikely to add to squad before deadline

YEOVIL Town manager Gary Johnson (pictured) has said that it is unlikely any new players will arrive at Huish Park today ahead of tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline.

Johnson, speaking to the BBC following Tuesday night’s big 2-1 win over MK Dons, gave the impression that he was happy with the squad he had assembled.

“I’m pleased with the ones we’ve got,” he said. “If you bring too many new ones in now then you’ve got to go through the tactics and the philosophy and everything that we’ve put into them.”

Johnson added: “You have me screaming and shouting at them and running them hard, sending them home and bringing them back later in the afternoon and all of that would be wasted on some new ones.

“This group have got to where they’ve got to, through all the things that we’ve done previously and they’re producing it at the moment.”

One piece of news however to come out of Huish Park this afternoon is that Middlesbrough loanee Matthew Dolan has extended his stay with the Glovers.

His youth loan arrangement was due to run out after this weekend, but it has now been prolonged for a further month.

Yeovil currently sit seventh in the table – just one place below the play-off zone in npower League One. The Glovers play host to Brentford on Saturday (Feb 2) in a 3pm kick-off.
