Football: Joe Edwards signs contract with Yeovil Town

YEOVIL Town today announced the signing of Bristol City youngster Joe Edwards on an 18-month permanent contract.

The 22-year-old has been with the Glovers in recent times on two separate loan deals, but Yeovil boss Gary Johnson today brought the defender back to Huish Park on a permanent deal for what is believed to have been a five-figure fee.

Edwards has already made 17 appearances for Yeovil this season while on loan and is something of a versatile player having played in a number of different positions - something which could be of huge importance going into the second-half of the campaign with the Glovers vying for a spot in the play-off positions.

Edwards said that he was delighted to be back at Yeovil and was looking to get a lot more first-team football under his belt.

His time at Bristol City had only resulted in him getting four senior appearances to his name.

He will go straight into the squad for this Saturday's npower League One clash with Preston North End at Huish Park.
