Skittles: Casuals back with a bang in Yeovil Sports League
AFTER suffering three defeats in a row, early season Division Three leaders Casuals came back to form with bang in the Yeovil Sports Skittles League away to the Jets.
With five men of merit they amassed an amazing 420 to beat their hosts by 40 pins. Colin Dawe with 59 and Phil Norris with 58 led the way and were well backed up by youngster Ben Francis with 56 and skipper and league vice captain Mark Gold with 56 and Mark's dad, Keith Gold, with 53.
Pacemakers have moved into second place after a three-pin win over Screwballs.
Top scorer in the league this week was Ken Hall, of Dads Army, who's 67 was largely responsible for their 53-pin win away to RML Sports in DIvision Four.
Second-placed VAD suffered a shock 12-pin home defeat by bottom placed Playboys who registered only their second win. RB Legion SPorts now have a five-point lead after a seven-pin win over Kinnells.
Division Five leaders Misfits held on to their four-point lead thanks to 62 from M. Knibbs - they won their local derby with Labour Club by three pins. Up and Aways and Motiv Eight also had good away wins to stay second and third respectively.
Herky Snerkeys gave ODS a very hard game in Division One before the leaders got home by two pins thanks to Nick Fry's 59.
FK Rebels sprang a real surprise by winning away to Easy Boys by 24 pins who slipped to fourth place.
Top nomination scorer of the week was R. Hallett, of Cretins. His 62 enabled Cretins to stay in the promotion chasing cluster of teams which includes Tripods who lost to Cretins by 37.
