Football: Yeovil Town look to boost crowd figures

Football: Yeovil Town look to boost crowd figuresINITIATIVES to try and entice fans back to Huish Park have been welcomed by Yeovil Town boss Gary Johnson.

Crowds at Huish Park this season have been hugely disappointing for the Glovers and are averaging just over 4,000 for home npower League One fixtures.

The club is looking to offer incentives to get fans back to Huish Park with the emphasis being on attracting younger supporters through the turnstiles.

Johnson, speaking to the BBC, said:  "If we can entice some new support then that's great. It's not that we aren't appreciating the ones that are here, but the realistic side is that if you don't get the gates then we can't aspire to the ambitions of the manager, the players and the club."

Johnson added: "You have to go for the new, young, enthusiastic supporter. If we can make them feel a part of Yeovil then maybe they'll be the ones writing us letters in 30 years time saying: 'I've been supporting this club for 30 years'."
