GLOVERS NEWS: Six-shooting Yeovil Town have a day to remember

YEOVIL Town scored six goals in an away Football League fixture for the first time in the club’s history on Easter Monday (April 2, 2018) in an amazing afternoon at Coventry City.

Alex Fisher, Francois Zoko and substitute Sam Surridge all scored two apiece at the Ricoh Arena to leave Yeovil fans pinching themselves and promotion-chasing Coventry stunned.

Yeovil made an amazing start and raced into a 3-0 lead by 15 minutes with Fisher getting his brace and Zoko the other.

Maxime Biamou reduced the deficit for the home side shortly after the start of the second period, but Zoko regained Yeovil’s three-goal advantage on 55 minutes.

It became 4-2 when Biamou netted his second for Coventry on 68 minutes, but then Sturridge, who had come on as second-half substitute for Fisher, netted his brace in the final ten minutes of the fixture.

An incredible game, an incredible performance by Yeovil and three points which have virtually assured the Glovers place in the Sky Bet League Two for another season.

Next up for Yeovil will be the visit of high-flying Luton Town in Huish Park in the Sky Bet League Two. Fans will need no reminding that Yeovil suffered a nightmare 8-2 defeat at Luton on the opening day of the 2017-18 season back in August last year.
