LEISURE: Tickets still available for Mayor’s Charity Ball – it’s going to a fantastic night!
THE Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr Darren Shutler, is looking forward to raising lots of money for his two nominated charities – St Margaret’s Hospice and the Piers Simon Appeal’s School in a Bag initiative – at this year’s Mayor’s Charity Ball.
Cllr Shutler is thrilled and honoured to be the first Yeovil Mayor to hold the traditional Charity Ball at the newly-revamped Westlands Yeovil leisure and conference centre which this year will take place on Saturday, November 25, 2017.
“I’m proud to host the event at the newly-refurbished Westlands which is not only a fantastic opportunity to have an enjoyable evening but to raise much needed funds for two worthy charities,” he said.
As well as a four-course dinner, there will be a tombola, two auctions and a raffle for some fabulous prizes which have been kindly donated by local businesses and individuals. This will be followed by live music from Daytona and a disco by DJ Will. People need to be seated by 7pm, but doors will open at 6pm with a finish time around 2am.
Tickets are priced £45 per person.
St Margaret’s Hospice is a local charity committed to providing specialist palliative care, advice, support and respite for whoever needs it, whenever and wherever it is needed in Somerset and parts of neighbouring counties.
St Margaret’s care is free to patients and their families. Their clinical care costs £10m each year with £7.5m from fundraising and the generosity of people like you.
School in a Bag is an initiative run by the Piers Simon Appeal, a UK registered charity that aims to provide support to victims of disasters worldwide, regardless of race, politics or religion. It delivers rucksacks full of stationery and resources to poor, orphan, vulnerable and disaster affected children.
