AIR DAY 2017: Win tickets for this weekend’s show at RNAS Yeovilton

THE Yeovil Press has got some last-minute tickets to giveaway in a competition for this Saturday’s (July 8, 2017) International Air Day at RNAS Yeovilton.

You can join 35,000 other people who will be converging on Yeovilton near Yeovil for the annual event which will include a five-hour flying display of aircraft from around the world.

This will be a truly special event marking the 70th anniversary of the Air Station's and the Fleet Air Arm’s preparations for carrier operations.

Five hours of incredible flying displays and extensive static displays will feature an array of fast jets, helicopters, historic warbirds that flew at the original Air Day in 1947 and an exclusive line up of international participants from ten nations.

Seventy years ago, the Swordfish and Sea Fury were quite a sight in the Somerset skies as they amazed the crowds at Yeovilton and fittingly these rare naval heritage aircraft will take centre stage once again.

Their modern-day counterparts will also be providing a spectacular sight demonstrating the contribution made by naval aviation to Protect Our Nation’s Interests.

There will be plenty of other aircraft on static display on the ground, as well as lots of other entertainment for all the family as RNAS Yeovilton looks forward to an amazing day.

We have got a pair of tickets to giveaway in a competition – but you are going to have to be quick to get your answers to us.

All you have to do is answer this simple question: What anniversary is RNAS Yeovilton celebrating this year?

Send your answer to us by email to yeovilpress@gmail.com along with your name, address and contact phone number.

We need your answer by 10am tomorrow (Friday, July 7, 2017) in order for us to arrange getting the tickets to you.

Car parks at Yeovilton open at 8am on Saturday with the gates to the show opening from 9am to the exhibition and trade fair.

The flying display is due to start at around 11am and go on until 4.30pm with the traditional Commando Assault finale.

Competition winners will be notified by email and arrangements made to get the tickets to them.
