GLOVERS NEWS: Yeovil Town suffer defeat on first game of 2017

YEOVIL Town’s hopes of starting the New Year with a win came to nothing when they slipped to a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Crawley Town on Monday (January 2, 2017).

First-half goals from Josh Yorweth on 29 minutes and then a James Collins penalty less than ten minutes later sealed the fate for the Glovers.

It proved a disappointing debut for new Yeovil loan signing Jack Storer, celebrating his 19th birthday, who made the starting line-up but was substituted at half-time by manager Darren Way in preference for Francois Zoko, while Otis Khan was also hauled off and replaced by Matt Butcher.

But Yeovil could not get themselves back into the game and Crawley comfortably held out to take the three points.

The result saw Crawley moved up to 13th spot in the Sky Bet League Two table, while Yeovil dropped to 14th.

The Glovers are now eight points away from the play-offs in one direction while looking down they are nine points away from the relegation zone.
