GLOVERS NEWS: Yeovil Town’s unbeaten run comes to an end

YEOVIL Town’s unbeaten run in the Sky Bet League Two came to an end on Saturday (December 10, 2016) when they fell to their first defeat for over two months.

A solitary goal was enough to give Barnet a 1-0 success at Huish Park – Yeovil’s first reverse in League Two since the heavy 4-1 defeat at Plymouth Argyle on October 1, 2016.

Six wins and three draws in the following nine league games had propelled Yeovil up into the play-off zone.

The only goal of the game came on 84 minutes when Alex Nicholls scored past Yeovil keeper Artur Krysiak.

Yeovil went in search of an equaliser but they just did not have enough time to find that all-important goal.

Results from elsewhere around the League Two table saw Yeovil drop out of the play-off zone and into tenth spot.

But with just eight points separating fourth place to 15th in the table – Portsmouth, Luton, Wycombe, Blackpool, Barnet, Cambridge, Yeovil, Stevenage, Grimsby, Mansfield, Crewe and Crawley – it is likely that the see-saw effect in the fight for play-off spots will continue right until the end of the season.
