GLOVERS NEWS: Last-gasp equaliser for Yeovil Town

A DRAMATIC goal deep into time added-on saw Yeovil Town gain a share of the spoils in a 2-2 draw at Stevenage on Saturday (November 12, 2016).

Substitute Ben Whitfield had only been introduced to the fray on 88 minutes with the Glovers having just gone 2-1 down, but on 95 minutes he became a super-sub when he netted to earn his side a last-gasp point.

After a goalless first-half the game opened up in the second period when Ryan Hedges put the Glovers 1-0 up on 48 minutes.

Yeovil, for a fleeting moment, found themselves – courtesy of their 1-0 lead and results from elsewhere in the League Two table – sitting in the play-off spots.

That spell in the dizzy heights of the play-off zone came to an end when Ben Kennedy equalised for the home side on 68 minutes and then put them in front with his second of the afternoon just four minutes from time.

But then with the last kick of the game deep into time added-on Whitfield netted to give Yeovil a draw.

The result puts Yeovil into tenth spot in the table on 21 points from 16 games played and just one point adrift of the play-off zone.
