GLOVERS NEWS: Glovers Trust wants YOUR ideas

THE newly-formed Glovers Trust is looking to members for ideas and suggestions it can take to Yeovil Town’s Board of Directors as possible ways of improving crowd attendances at Huish Park.

Attendances at Huish Park for first-team games are falling dramatically and the crowd of 2,749 at Huish Park last Saturday (September 10, 2016) for the 2-1 defeat against Hartlepool United was the lowest the Glovers had had since joining the Football League for the 2002-03 season.

The last time Yeovil had a lower gate for a league game was back on September 21, 2002, when 2,126 watched the Glovers beat Halifax Town 3-0 in the Conference – although that game was played at Dorchester Town with Huish Park out of action due to having a new pitch installed.

The lowest league game attendance at Huish Park before last Saturday’s was the 1,941 crowd set on Tuesday, April 23, 2002, when Yeovil were held to a 0-0 draw by Southport in the Conference.

The Glovers Trust – which had its first-ever annual meeting on Wednesday (September 14, 2016) and already has more than 300 members – is looking for ideas on how the match day experience at Huish Park could be improved, putting aside the obvious solution of “getting better results on the pitch.”

Brendon Owen, of the Glovers Trust, said: “When we draw up our agenda to take into Huish Park we want to be able to take ideas that we can realistically negotiate to a satisfactory conclusion.

“Send your ideas and suggestions to our secretary at secretary@glovers-trust.co.uk.”

The Yeovil Town Supporters Society Ltd – known as Glovers Trust – is a democratic, not for profit organisation, committed to giving supporters a strong unified voice in the decision making process at Yeovil Town FC and strengthening the links between the club and the community that it serves.

Adult membership to join the Glovers Trust is just £10 per year, while it is just £1 per year for those aged Under-16; and £100 per year for a corporate membership.
