LEISURE: Time at the bar at Yeovil Beer Festival

OPERATION tidy-up has been going on this morning (Sunday, April 10, 2016) following the conclusion of a successful Yeovil Beer Festival.

Thousands of people attended the festival – held at Yeovil Showground – on Friday (April 8, 2016) night and all day yesterday.

The fourth annual festival promised to be bigger and better than ever before and did not disappoint fest-goers.

The community event is a joint venture between Yeovil Round Table, Lions Club of Yeovil and staff and students of Yeovil College and so far it has raised around £40,000 for local charities.

Yeovil Round Table chairman Ashley Helyar said: “I must say a massive thank you to the organising committee who spend many, many hours of unpaid time bringing this festival together.

“A big thank you as well to our sponsors. Their help is fundamental to the financial success of this event and I am delighted to say that through the efforts of that sponsorship every pint which has been drunk during the festival will be profit going to local charities.

“That says a lot for the support that local businesses give to our community.”

President of Yeovil Lions, John Nicholas, added: “A special thanks should go to Rob Sherwood of Yeovil Ales and also to our own Ria Ledbury who has been the Lions representative on the committee.

“The continued collaboration of both the Round Table and the Lions for the larger events has worked well and to the benefit of local charities and good causes.”

Festival-goers were treated to a great line-up of music on two stages – sponsored by Porter Dodson and Orchards Estates – over the weekend.
