LIVE THEATRE: All the Fun of the Fair

LIVE THEATRE: All the Fun of the Fair

THE 2015 Chard Carnival Show by Chard Entertainment Society – All the Fun of the Fair – opens at the Guildhall in the town on Wednesday (October 7, 2015).

The musical is set in a world of an authentic East End fun fair and was penned by legendary singer, actor, composer and lyricist David Essex and Boogie Nights creator Jon Conway.

People can now go and watch this rollercoaster ride of a musical in Chard which is under-scored by a helter-skelter of David Essex hits such as Winter’s Tale, Hold Me Close, Gonna Make You a Star, Me and My Girl Nightclubbing, Silver Dream Machine and Rock On with many new compositions written specially for the show.

Inspired by David’s album All The Fun of the Fair, the original storyline is a heart-warming tale about an East End fairground family, and the show features a real dodgem car and three motorbikes.  Chard Entertainment Society chairman, Neil Wells, is a motorbike fan and is delighted to have the chance to bring them on to The Guildhall stage.

“Riding a motorbike on stage has been on my bucket list for a long time, so it really is a dream come true for me,” he said.

“Putting this show together has involved a lot of work.  We’ve had to completely overhaul and re-spray a dodgem car and refurbish some classic bikes of the period, but it’s been worth it.

“Let’s hope the people of Chard will take the opportunity to come along and relive their youth – or get a taste of the 70s – and support Chard Carnival.”

So, roll up, roll up for All the Fun of the Fair at The Guildhall Chard from October 7-9, 2015.

Expect dodgems and motorbikes, crafty cons and candy floss, fairground stalls and fights, along with romance and rock and roll.   You’re sure to go on a roller coaster of a ride, but beware… all is not always fun at the fair!

Tickets at £8 are available from Barron’s Holyrood Street Chard, online at www.ticketsource.co.uk/chardentertainmentsociety (small booking fee applies), or £10 on the door.
