SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Motorcyclist dies in crash

POLICE are appealing for the public’s help following a fatal road traffic collision at Chard.

The incident happened at about 2.40pm on Saturday (October 3, 2015) on the A30 at its junction with Red Barn Lane, Chard.

A police spokesman said: "A motorcyclist was in collision with a tractor and trailer, which was travelling along the A30 towards Chard.

"The tractor turned into Red Barn Lane and the motorcycle, which was following behind appeared to lose control and was in collision with the tractor.

"The motorcyclist received treatment at the scene but died shortly afterwards."

The road was closed for a detailed examination by collision investigators and was re-opened at about 9pm.

The police spokesman added: “We are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have information to help our enquiries.”
