GLOVERS NEWS: First away win of the season for Yeovil Town

A SUPERB goal from Harry Cornick was enough to give Yeovil Town their first away win of the season yesterday (Saturday, September 19, 2015).

Cornick struck with a long range effort from outside of the box on 28 minutes and it was the only goal of the game as Yeovil won 1-0 at Crawley Town.

Just under 300 Yeovil fans were at the game – watched by a crowd of 2,112 – and the three points saw the Glovers leapfrog above their opponents to 20th spot in the Sky Bet League Two table.

Crawley definitely had their moments during the game and twice hit the woodwork, but they could not make their pressure count and Yeovil stood firm.

Yeovil’s lack of playing resources – due to injuries and suspension – saw manager Paul Sturrock give youth team attacker Ollie Bassett a Football League debut up front alongside Ryan Bird.

Seventeen-year-old Bassett made a bit of Yeovil Town history yesterday by becoming the club’s youngest ever player in the Football League.

Yeovil had a couple of decent chances late on as Crawley went in search of an equaliser, but they were unable to beat home keeper Freedie Woodman for a second time.
