GLOVERS NEWS: Yeovil Town struggle in Somerset Premier Cup tie

YEOVIL Town had to rely on a penalty shoot-out victory tonight (Tuesday, March 24, 2015) over Larkhall Athletic to proceed through to the semi-final of the Somerset Premier League.

The quarter-final tie with Larkhall finished 1-1 after 90 minutes and then neither side could find a winner in 30 minutes of extra-time.

It meant the game had to be decided in a dramatic penalty shoot-out and it was the Glovers who eventually emerged victorious 4-2 with goals from Ajay Leitch-Smith, Sam Hoskins, Kieffer Moore and Nathan Ralph.

Leitch-Smith had given Yeovil a first-half lead on 24 minutes in normal time, but Larkhall equalised in the second period through Joe Tumelty.

Despite Yeovil having eventually won through to the semi-final of the Somerset Premier Cup, it was far from satisfying with the Glovers fielding a strong line-up against their non-league hosts.

While Yeovil won the tie, it was Larkhall from the Southern League Division One South and West who won the plaudits.

The Glovers will now meet Bridgwater Town at Fairfax Park in the semi-final on a date to be fixed.

Yeovil Town: Artur Krysiak, Liam Davis, Seth Twumasi, Kieffer Moore, Ben Nugent, Fergus Bell, Nathan Ralph, Craig Eastmond, Sam Hoskins, Alex Smith, Ajay Leitch-Smith. Subs: Gareth Stewart, Nathan Smith, James Hayter, Gozie Ugwu.
