YAOS will be performing the musical, based on the Margaret Landon novel Anna and the King of Siarri, from Tuesday (March 17, 2015) through to March 28, 2015, with performances at 7.30pm, plus there will be two 2.30pm matinees on Saturday, March 21, 2015, and Saturday, March 28, 2015.

Following on from the society’s hugely successful shows of last year with Sister Act and the menacing Jekyll and Hyde, everyone is looking forward to getting back on stage with The King and I.

The story is set in 1862 in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, and her young son arrive at the RoyalPalace in Bangkok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives.

The King is considered to be a barbarian by those in the West and he seeks Anna’s assistance in changing his image.

With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another in a truly unique love story.

Tickets for the production are priced £14 for the opening night and Saturday matinee and £17 for all other performances.
