FEEDER primary schools for Holyrood Academy in Chard took part in an excellent Under-11s tag rugby tournament.

The competition was hosted at Holyrood in conjunction with Chard Rugby Club, and was officiated by Holyrood students alongside rugby club coaches.

A fantastic entryof 11 teams contested at the event which meant that over 100 local primary children were involved in total – making for a great spectacle which was supported by a large crowd of friends and family members.SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES: Rugby success for Neroche and Buckland teams

Neroche came out on top in this Year 5-6 competition, with Buckland St Mary finishing as runners up. Both of these teams will now go forward to represent the Holyrood cluster in the South Somerset Finals on Tuesday (March 17, 2015) at Castle Cary Rugby Club.

All players were congratulated at the end for putting on a great display of junior rugby on what was a brilliant afternoon of competitive sport.

Holyrood’s school sports co-ordinator, Jason Hedaux, would like to thank Chard Rugby Club for their enthusiasm and hospitality and welcomes the community links made between schools and community clubs.

“These links greatly help schools to deliver the competitive nature of sport for our children,” he said.
