CARNIVAL: Fun times ahead for Chard

CARNIVAL: Fun times ahead for Chard

THE Carnival cavalcade rumbles into Chard tonight (Saturday, October 11, 2014) where thousands of people are expected to line the town centre streets to watch the parade.

The procession will start at 7.30pm from Tapstone Road near Tesco and will move up East Street into Convent Link, Old Town, Duck Lane, Crowshute Link and then turn down High Street and Fore Street before returning to East Street and finishing.CARNIVAL: Fun times ahead for Chard

Roads in and around the town centre will begin to close to traffic from about 6.30pm and will remain closed until about 10.30pm.

PHOTO - RIGHT: Harlequin CC, of Ilminster, will be wowing the Carnival crowds again tonight with their pirate-inspired Tortuga float.

Organisers will be keeping their fingers-crossed for a dry night and will be hoping for a bumper collection – so the message to the crowds is simple: dig deep for charity!

The big two Carnival clubs of Harlequin and Gemini, of Ilminster, will be going head-to-head again with their excellent entries Tortuga and Transformers The Cube respectively.

There will be plenty of Chard-based interest, however, with a number of entries including Eclipse CC with Dead Men Tell No Tales.
