MATCH REACTION: All leave cancelled for Yeovil Town players

YEOVIL Town players have been told that “all leave is cancelled” following today’s (Saturday, August 9, 2014) poor performance at home to Doncaster Rovers in the opening day of the 2014-15 campaign in the Sky Bet League One.

A 3-0 defeat was hugely disappointing and Yeovil manager Gary Johnson had his players back out on the pitch after the majority of the crowd had left the Huish Park stadium.

He then made them run about half-a-dozen laps of the Huish Park pitch before putting them through warm-down exercises.MATCH REACTION: All leave cancelled for Yeovil Town players

Johnson said it was a form of “punishment” – although not a major one admittedly.

But he said: “I wanted to give them a little bit of extra work and I want to learn their characters – see who was running out at the front and who was the dead man walking.

“They deserved some form of punishment for that.”

Johnson added: “All leave is cancelled.”

The players will be reporting back in for duty tomorrow (Sunday, August 10, 2014) and will be made to watch the video of today’s game.

“We will watch the video tomorrow,” said Johnson. “They will watch what the fans had to watch today.”

Johnson added: “We’ve got a lot of work to do. We didn’t create any real chances, we weren’t a threat.

“Not many of them showed their game today.”
