MUSICAL THEATRE: All set for Hairspray!

FINAL preparations have been made in readiness for tonight’s (Tuesday, July 15, 2014) opening performance of Yeovil Musical Theatre Company’s latest production – Hairspray.

The talented YMTC team will be performing Hairspray at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil from tonight through to Saturday, July 19, 2014, nightly at 7.30pm along with a 3.30pm matinee show on Saturday.

Hairspray will sweep the audience away to 1960s Baltimore where the 50s are out and change is in the air.

Loveable plus-size heroine, Tracy Turnblad, has a passion for dancing and wins a spot on the local TV dance programme, The Corny Collins Show.

Overnight she finds herself transformed from outsider to teen celebrity. Can a larger-than-life adolescent manage to vanquish the programme’s reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love?

Flic Keirle takes the part of Tracy Turnblad, while Steve Roberts is Corny Collins, Will Poulton is Link, and Stephen Hentschel plays Tracy’s mum Edna.

Tickets are priced £16 for adults and £14 for children and concessions.

The production is being directed by Matt Summer with choreography by Amanda Thornton and musical direction from Martin Emslie.
