MUSIC FESTIVAL: Hitting the right note for New Digs for Dogs!

EXCITED staff at the Ferne Animal Sanctuary in South Somerset have just announced the date of their first music festival in aid of their New Digs for Dogs appeal.

The festival will take place on Sunday, July 20, 2014, from 1pm to 103pm at Haselbury Mill near Crewkerne.

The Ferne Music Festival will cater for all tastes.

Head of animal care at Ferne Animal Sanctuary, Tara Nirula, said: “Everyone here is really looking forward to this event.

“There will be numerous bands playing during the day. The star attraction is Phoenix Club, a really popular band.

“Mandolin Chad, Dinosaur Café, Area 53, Complete Control, Oscar Everard, Stevie Nicole Brown, The Stanleys, KirA, The White City Shakers and the Silly Band complete the line-up. We are extremely grateful to all the bands for playing free of charge.MUSIC FESTIVAL: Hitting the right note for New Digs for Dogs!

“All different types of music will be played including pop, folk, country, blues, acoustic, party and indie rock so it’s suitable for everyone, including families. There are 700 tickets for sale. We really hope a great crowd will come along and have a fantastic time!”

Tara added: “The music will be live outside on the bandstand until 10.30pm, but if the weather is bad, the event will take place in the Tithe Barn.

“Our sincerest thanks must go to all the wonderful staff at Haselbury Mill for supporting us and giving the venue free of charge. Please support them by not bringing your own food and drink to the festival - there will be plenty available to purchase.

“If anyone can volunteer to help we’d love to hear from them. We’re particularly looking for people who could be car park attendants.”

A charity raffle, licensed bar and great food - including a barbeque - will be available during the event. Gates open at 12noon. Parking is free. Music starts at 1pm and tickets are only £5 per person. Under 10’s are admitted free.

Tickets are available from Ferne retail shops in Chard and Bridport, Ferne Animal Sanctuary on 01460-65214 and Haselbury Mill on 01460-77095.

Ferne Animal Sanctuary, which is based near Chard, recently launched their £1m project “New Digs for Dogs” to build a new enhanced kennel block, improved grooming and veterinary care room, information hub, social unit, offices, reception and purpose built rehoming centre at their site in Somerset.
