20th annual beer festival at Brewers Arms

THE award-winning Brewers Arms at South Petherton is gearing up for its 20th annual beer festival this weekend.

The festival will take place from Friday, May 23, 2014, right through to Monday, May 26, 2014 with over 25 real ales, ciders, food and entertainment.

The fun gets underway tomorrow (Friday, May 23, 2014) with the festival bar opening at 12noon. There will be “happy hour” from 3pm to 5pm with 50p off pints.20th annual beer festival at Brewers Arms

Friday night entertainment will be provided by Ilminster’s very own Elvis tribute act Barry Paull from 9.30pm.

The Brewers in St James Street will be open all day on Saturday (May 24, 2014) from 11.30am.

The afternoon entertainment will see the ever-popular maggot racing from 1pm.

Live music will be provided on Saturday evening with Ian Kenna from 9.30pm and there will also be a late evening barbecue.

The big day of the festival comes on Sunday (May 25) and will be open from 12noon.

There will be a hog roast available for festival-goers to enjoy from 1pm, while during the afternoon there will also be maggot racing from 1pm and the highly-popular Yard of Ale competition at 3.30pm.

Evening entertainment will come in the form of a disco with DJ Ryan from 9.30pm, plus a late evening barbecue.

On Bank Holiday Monday (May 26) the Brewers will be open from 11.30am and there will be afternoon fun and barbecue from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

People can then help to “drink the bar dry” from 6pm with 50p off any pints remaining.

Pub-goers are reminded that food will be available in the bar and restaurant as normal during the festival from 12noon to 2.15pm and from 6pm to 9pm.
