YEOVIL Town suffered a massive blow to their hopes of Sky Bet Championship survival this season when they lost 3-2 last night (Tuesday, April 8, 2014) at Charlton Athletic.Charlton Athletic 3, Yeovil Town 2: Hammer blow for Glovers

Relegation rivals Charlton got an early breakthrough when Astrit Ajdarevic netted in the tenth minute, but Yeovil were soon back on level terms when Joel Grant equalised two minutes later.

But the turning point of the match came during a disastrous three-minute spell at the beginning of the second period when Charlton opened up a two-goal advantage.

They capitalised on defensive errors by Yeovil and went 2-1 up through Dorian Dervite in the 48th minute and then Marvin Sordell in the 51st minute.

Yeovil got a goal back when substitute Kieffer Moore scored in the 74th minute, but the Glovers could not find an equaliser.

Admittedly, deep down Yeovil know that a win was vital for the survival chances.

Yeovil remain rooted at the foot of the Championship table and six points from safety with five games to play - a real mountain to climb.
