Chard becomes a City of Rock for Carnival!

HARLEQUIN CC rocked Chard last night (Saturday, October 12, 2013) at the town’s annual Carnival.

The Ilminster club’s City of Rock float walked away with a host of awards including the coveted best entry in procession.

Harlequin’s big rivals, Gemini CC, also won a clutch of awards for their excellent tableau Le Barricade.

Chard-based Eclipse CC won local plaudits with their superb float Rise of the Bugs.

The Mayor of Chard, Cllr Jenny Kenton, gave the Mayor’s Choice award to Unicorn CC and their Time to Remember entry to support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Young Carnivalites from Generations CC won the Spirit of Carnival trophy with Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves, while Chard’s Jessica Lacey was voted best youth walking entry with Maid in China.

But despite all of the winners; the overall winner was Carnival itself.
