Crowds come out for South Petherton Carnival

THE weather held firm and the crowds came out once again on Saturday night to enjoy the annual South Petherton Carnival.

The procession set off from the Recreation Ground in Lightgate Lane and weaved its way through the narrow streets of Petherton.

Overall champions were Rascals CC, of Ilminster, with their excellent float of Show Boat.

While it was the 2nd South Petherton Scout Group who took top honours locally by being named best local float entry with a Michael Jackson-inspired take on Thriller.

Second were South Petherton Sports and Social Club CC with Rocking All Over the World in what will be their last Carnival, while third were Brewers Arms CC with the Brewers Barnyard.

Pupils at South Petherton Junior School produced some great costumes for their walking entry based on the characters of Roald Dahl, while the children from South Petherton Infants School produced the Carnival of Animals.

Organisers would like to thank everyone for taking part and supporting the Carnival as always.
