Football: Millwall v Yeovil Town: Here we go!

YEOVIL Town kick-off a new chapter in the history of the club today (Saturday, August 3, 2013) when they make their debut performance in the Sky Bet Championship - the second tier of English football.

Whatever happens between now and May it will be one hell of an adventure for the Glovers who, little more than a decade ago, were still plying their trade in non-league football.

They are now just one division below the Premiership and the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea. A three-point haul today at Millwall would be a perfect start for manager Gary Johnson (pictured below) and his boys.Football: Millwall v Yeovil Town: Here we go!

Yeovil plying their trade in The Championship is an amazing achievement and whatever happens over the coming months - it will be enjoyed by the Glovers.

Clubs the size of Yeovil Town are not, on paper, supposed to be mixing it with such illustrious opponents as Nottingham Forest, Leeds United, Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers in The Championship.

But football is not played on paper - football is played on a pitch; 11 men against 11 men.

Yeovil Town have earned their right to be where they are; they should not feel embarrassed at coming up against such giants; they should feel proud and excited that Little Old Yeovil have joined such a division.

But the biggest message of all is for the teams that Yeovil will be coming up against in the season ahead: woe behind anyone who belittles the Glovers; they might be small in size in terms of squad, stadium and budget; but Yeovil have got the heart, the will and the determination to match any of the biggest teams in the world.

Come on the Glovers! Let the adventure begin.
