Gymnastics: Students tumble to success for Yeovil!

YEOVIL College students and members of Gryphon West Gymnastics Club, Sarah Barrington and Craig Goldring, have won prizes at a nationwide competition.

Sarah and Craig competed separately at the British Schools Gymnastics Association finals in Stoke on Trent earlier this month in men’s and women’s events.  They took part in the Under-19s tumbling, performing complex moves over a set distance to impress the judges.Students tumble to success for Yeovil!

First year student Sarah said: “I competed in the South West heats and came second, so went through to the finals in Stoke on Trent.

“I had to come up with five elements for my performance, which I then had to link together. I used moves including round off, half turn, flick and tuck back.  I’ve been doing gymnastics for 13 years.”

College sports lecturer Andy Mitchell said: “The whole sports department is very proud of Sarah and Craig’s achievements at the British Schools Gymnastics Association finals.”
