Football: Yeovil Town sign Tate with a touch of Royal humour!

YEOVIL Town might be odds-on favourites to be relegated in the new 2013-14 season in their first-ever season in The Championship – but one thing will not falter, the Glovers sense of humour!Football: Yeovil Town sign Tate with a touch of Royal humour!

The Glovers know that they are going to be up against it when the new season kicks-off at Millwall on August 3.

But Yeovil know that their spirit will not falter and today’s signing of defender Alan Tate has created a lot more publicity than it should have done – thanks to the fun-loving Glovers.

Following the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s son on Monday, Yeovil decided to announce the signing of Tate by producing a mocked-up picture of an easel outside Huish Park – similar to how the Royal birth was announced in the forecourt of Buckingham Palace.

The move has sparked national media coverage and it has gone crazy on the social networking Twitter site!

More seriously, Tate has signed on loan from Premier League outfit Swansea City and will be at Huish Park until January 2, 2014.

He started his career at Manchester United, but joined Swansea in 2004 and has gone on to make 340 appearances for the Welsh club.

Tate is expected to be in tonight’s Yeovil squad for the friendly with Exeter City at Huish Park.

The Yeovil Press believes the Queen would be amused by the Glovers' touch of humour.
